S is for Smile (Secondary)
smiles all around
What we think we feel, what we feel we think! Yet it’s not just our thoughts and our feelings that feed off each other, our bodies get involved too! This is because we’re not just brains on sticks, we’re a complex set of connections, processes, biology and let’s face it, magic!
1. The act of smiling makes you happy. Happy people are more likely to be resilient in the face of changing times. Play the Smiling Game with a circle of your friends, all of you socially distanced & wearing masks! Decide who’s going first! The first person decides what they’re going to send around the circle - a smile or an angry face. With only your eyes as clues, see if you can silently send these messages around! Notice how it feels when you’re smiling notice how it feels when you’re frowning how easy it is to tell the difference? Did the last person guess right, where the smiling/frowning guessing go wrong?
2. Look out your favourite feel-good movie - one that makes you laugh, that makes you smile! Perhaps watch it with your family or your friends and enjoy smiling together! Look at each other’s faces whist you’re smiling and laughing & notice how it makes you feel! Do the smiling challenge - where you try not to smile, see who wins, who can keep a straight face the longest? Turn out smiling is infectious!
3. Finally, spend some time with your family or friends focussing on the good things that happened each day, each week. As they’re speaking, listen to them. Smile at them, not a weak smile but a cheeky grin, a full-on strong, intense smile! Let your lips turn up, let there be wrinkles at the corner of your eyes - these are signs of an intense, authentic smile! Even cheer them on! Be enthusiastic for them! Comment on how positive the event sounds and how the positive implications moving forward
