W is for Wish (Primary)
I wish for..
Do you ever wish for things to be different, to go back to the way they were? We all have these types of feelings from time to time & let’s be honest - our hopes, dreams and wishes are super-important! But, rather than focus negatively on all the things that we don’t yet have, how about let’s turn our wishes into dream visions for the future with these simple practices.
Fun things to practice
1. Sometimes we feel as if we can’t change a situation. But what if we could change our attitude & how we respond with our imagination, our dream wishes? If you’ve ever dreamed about something, then you’ll be great at this! Next time you want something to be different, imagine you’re the movie director of your life, you’re in charge! Every thought, every dream, every feeling takes you closer to your wish. Perhaps you want to learn to ride your bike? Or maybe you want to be able to give a presentation in front of your class? Take some time each day for a few weeks imagining yourself cycling, imagining yourself standing in front of your class speaking confidently. Use your dream wishes to picture yourself doing exactly the things that you want to do. By doing this regularly, what you’re doing is uncovering the talents that you already have!
2. Our wishes are really magical & secret wishes can be even more powerful! The ‘Wishes for the World’ game is an amazing game to play with friends & family by sending our friendly wishes across the world! Imagine we’re sending a big, floating ball filled with our friendly wishes up into the sky standing in a circle we take turns holding the imaginary ball, what does it look like, feel like, what colour is it? Closing our eyes, take turns naming our wishes for the world & put them in the ball! With each wish, the ball gets bigger & bigger & heavier & heavier! Finally we count down & throw the ball into the sky, sending those lovely wishes to everyone, everywhere in the world
3. Sometimes our wishes are things that are really important to us - perhaps about being a good friend or perhaps wanting to become an artist or a someone who’s really good at sport? With these types of wishes, it’s not only a daily combination of what we do to achieve our wishes, it’s also about trusting, having patience & faith in our abilities. It’s about understanding that our wishes sometimes take time, maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow or even next week. And maybe not exactly how we imagine them either, sometimes wishes grow, change & get even better with time You can also write or draw your wish & put this piece of paper where you’ll see it every day. Remind yourself each day of your wish & ask - what am I doing each day to make my wish come true?
