I is for Inner Strength (Secondary)

The Way of the Mantis

How we manage the challenges we face & how often we remind ourselves of our inner strengths can make a real difference to helping us cope with both the day to day stuff but also our further away goals. We might not be sure of what’s happening around us but we CAN make sure we grow our own strength, we CAN count on ourselves! Here’s some ways to cultivate our own inner strength:

Master the Art…

1. There may be times when we feel uncertain or even helpless about what’s going on around us. On days like these, it’s really important to remind ourselves that we still have choice. Look for all the ways during your day that you’ve made choices for yourself - the food you’ve eaten, the exercise you’ve done, the music you’ve listened to! When times are tough, try to remember that we always have choices, including the choice to respond

2. Turning our gaze inwards, being aware of how strong we are is important for resilience but can be difficult at first. How about think of someone you admire & think of their strengths, what makes them so great? And then perhaps see clearly what 3 strengths you have & what 3 strengths you’d like to grow? Then how about each day focus on recognising one of your strengths & on growing one of your strengths - at the end of the day, see how the day has gone!

3. When we’re feeling uncertain or perhaps afraid, we can remind ourselves to have courage. This can be difficult particularly if we’re feeling a bit vulnerable. So each day, remind yourself that there is only one of you in the world, that you matter! Each day remind yourself of all the things that are important to you in the world, that you’re grateful for.

Final take

each day remind yourself that we’re all here to listen, to learn, to grow, to speak up & to show up.
