U is for Uplift (Secondary)

We have lift-off 🚀🚀🚀

Us humans have amazing abilities to survive, to thrive & uplift ourselves through the most difficult of times, we literally have superpowers if nothing else, the pandemic has shown us this over & over recently.

1. Set yourself a challenge - for one week, to notice ALL the good things, the kind things, the randomly uplifting things that people do & say to you! Take some time each day to journal & remember perhaps someone said something nice to you, made you your fave meal or gave your their time when you needed it most? Notice how it makes you feel when you let yourself really notice these simple random acts

2. Sometimes when we feel low, we can really help ourselves by helping others! We know you might not feel like it but the research is overwhelmingly positive! And the good news is, it could be something as simple as smiling at someone, joining in with a group, doing something small for someone, sending a message to a pal. Helping out helps us too, it shows us how connected we are and that we’re not alone

3.Be on your own side, a bit like being your own cheerleader! We call this agency, where we realise that we’re taking charge of our own lives rather than being swept along. You can ask yourself ‘how much influence do I have in my life?’, looking at the different areas of your life & thinking of the things that are important to you. This exercise can be really helpful to let us decide where to focus our efforts moving forward

FINAL TAKE

Even though it’s quite normal to feel low every now & then, it’s times like these, when it’s even more important to remind ourselves of our resilience - to uplift ourselves, and others along the way.
